Our Mission: To Honor and Appreciate the Sacrifice of our Military and Military families — Past, Present and Future.

Connecting Veterans in the Charlottesville Community

Based in Charlottesville, ParadeRest connects local communities with service members and veterans through initiatives focused on academic tutoring, physical fitness preparation, veteran oral history interviews, and acts of appreciation. The organization’s work centers on strengthening the bond between those who serve and the communities they protect.

Tickets for Veterans

ParadeRest celebrates veterans by providing free, donated tickets for local venues - sporting events and cultural events.

Finding the Fallen

Finding the Fallen, 1941-2016 is an online site and a photographic tribute to local and University of Virginia military personnel who died serving in times of war. ParadeRest memorializes these remarkable men and women with their photographs and biographical details, in order to pay them the tribute they deserve.

Called To Serve

ParadeRest’s Called to Serve program helps young men and women explore future military service through a combination of academic tutoring, physical fitness preparation, and exposure to the realities of service.

The program includes academic tutoring designed to help students meet the educational standards required for military service. Participants also engage with veterans and current service members who share their experiences and help young people better understand the responsibilities and opportunities that come with serving the nation.

A core component of the program is physical fitness preparation conducted in partnership with ACAC, where participants build strength, endurance, and discipline while preparing for the physical demands of military service.

A Nickel for Your Story

ParadeRest interviews United States military veterans to record their stories for future generations to access in the Library of Congress. The stories are recorded in exchange for a WWII era Jefferson nickel; the very coins carried in the pockets and purses of these men and women not so long ago.

An article featuring eight local veterans who fell during the attack on Pearl Harbor or on D-Day was recently featured by UVA Today!

More information on those veterans may be found on the Finding the Fallen page on our website.

We thank those who have served and who have given all.
